I'm thinking about getting a mustang 2032 skid loader, is the mustand brand any good? do they have more/less problems then gehl or bobcat or john deere etc? As with most internet searches for equipment reviews, you typically only find those folks with bad experiences and looking to vent. As someone looking to add a skid steer on a modest budget to the farm, I've found several Mustang's in my price range but I'm leary based on lack of positive reviews. Since you qualified it with 'most powerful' then I'd have to suggest the Gehl 7800/Mustang 2109/2105 model with 110 hp cummins and yanmars, both of which are my most favorite, reliable engines. There are more of these models with the T bar control, fewer with case style controls, and fewer with hand/foot control. i have a 2004 Mustang 2044, great little machine, simple to operate and repair. i would join heavyequipmentforums.com and do a search on the 2109. ive read quite a few horror stories about the 2109. do afew searches online first.

Soon Mustang sold to Gehl, but Gehl kept both brands and home offices open. The differences between the machine (engines, primarily) are the result of Mustang and Gehl dealers not wanting to compete against each other with identical machines. I'd love a skid steer, just for the fun factor BUT they've gotten much too popular $$$. Everyone wants a skid steer for snow removal. Dollar for dollar you could do better with an old tractor loader. Some skid steers are painfully slow. In a drag race, my money is on the less than 40 HP, 1946 tractor. I was wondering if anyone could tell me about the quality and longevity or mustang skid steers. The one i am looking at has an owner that doesn't know the model but it is a early eighties model and is yellow with a four cylinder gas engine.
